Swayambhu Mandir, also known as the Swayambhunath Stupa or the Monkey Temple, is a Buddhist temple situated on a hilltop in Kathmandu, Nepal. The temple is considered to be one of the most important and revered Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Nepal and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The temple complex consists of a large white stupa with a golden spire at the top, surrounded by several smaller shrines and temples. The stupa is adorned with colorful prayer flags, and the complex also includes a museum, library, and monastery.
The Swayambhu Mandir is believed to date back more than 2,000 years and is considered to be one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Nepal. The temple has undergone several renovations and additions over the years, with the most recent renovation taking place in 2010 after the temple was damaged in an earthquake.
The temple is considered to be an important cultural and historical site in Nepal and attracts visitors from all over the world.
