The Subir Raha Oil Museum in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, is located at Tel Bhawan on the premises of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). Named after the former chairman and MD of ONGC, it has been set up to show the various stages of the oil and gas value chain. The museum also showcases the industrial history of petroleum in India and the process of fossil fuel conservation. The museum is divided into different sections to give a comprehensive impression of the history and value chain.
The Petroleum Museum, spread over 2 floors, has three sections. The first section shows the history of petroleum; there are samples of crude oil along with a series of flow charts explaining the properties of oil at different temperatures. The second section deals with the process of exploration and subsequent extraction of oil, while the third section shows the different methods of oil refining and transportation.
