Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park is a protected area located in the northern part of Kathmandu, Nepal. The park was established in 2002 and covers an area of 159 square kilometers. The park is named after two of the highest peaks in the area – Shivapuri and Nagarjun. The park is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including over 300 species of birds, various species of deer, monkeys, leopards, and Himalayan black bears.
There are several trekking routes that pass through the park, offering stunning views of the Himalayan mountain range. One of the popular trails is the Shivapuri Hiking Trail, which takes visitors through lush forests, past waterfalls, and up to the Shivapuri peak at an altitude of 2,732 meters.
The park is also an important watershed area, providing drinking water for the residents of Kathmandu. As such, the park is actively managed to protect its natural resources, and visitors are encouraged to follow sustainable tourism practices while exploring the area.
