Sahastradhara literally means ‘thousandfold spring’. It is a popular attraction and famous for its medicinal and therapeutic value as its water contains sulphur. It is known for its grandiose splendour created by the many shimmering streams that cascade down the amazing karst limestone cliffs. The perfect time to visit Sahastradhara is during a rainstorm when the streams rush down the rocks with full energy. Sahastradhara is one of the most popular destinations in Uttarakhand and is located about 14 km from the city of Dehradun, near Robber’s Cave. The temperature of the water here is slightly lower than in the surrounding areas. Its picturesque beauty attracts many travellers from far-off places. You can even enjoy a breathtaking view of the mountains by taking a cable car ride.

The area is widely characterised by peace and serenity, with lush Himalayan vegetation. The water here has a gradient of about 9 metres. As lime and sulphur are deposited in this region, one can discover an abundance of brown-orange elements in the surrounding caves.

Even though these are the opening and closing hours, the best time to visit Sahastradhara is during the day from 11:00 AM to 15:00 PM.
