These wheels inscribed with mantras can be found all over the city – a huge prayer wheel on Fort Road and another prayer wheel at the Chokhang Vihara temple. Locals say that if you make a wish and turn the wheel, your wish will come true.
These prayer wheels have religious inscriptions on them and it is considered auspicious to turn them clockwise. According to Buddhist tradition, turning these wheels has the same meritorious effect as reciting the mantras written on them.
