Neyyattinkara is a municipality in the greater Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala and the headquarters of the Neyyattinkara taluk. The town is located about 18 km south of the capital Trivandrum on National Highway 66 to Kanyakumari and covers an area of 16.21 km2 on the banks of the Neyyar River. The name ‘Neyyattinkara’ in the local Malayalam dialect means riparian kara of the Neyyar River.
