The National Museum in New Delhi, also known as the National Museum of India, is one of the largest museums in India and is located on the corner of Janpath and Maulana Azad Road. The museum was established in 1949. The plans for the majestic building were drawn up by the Gwyer Committee, appointed by the Government of India in 1946. Today, the museum boasts a whopping 200,000 Indian and foreign artworks and is maintained by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
