Located 62 km from Jammu, Mansar Lake is a lake surrounded by forested slopes and is over a mile long and a mile wide. It is not only a famous destination in Jammu, but also a heavenly place that shares the legend and sanctity of Mansar Lake.
On the eastern shore of the lake is a sacred site of Sheshnag, a legendary serpent with six heads, which includes a large rock with numerous iron chains attached to it that can talk to the small serpents that look out for the patron deity of Sheshnag. Two ancient temples of Umapati Mahadev and Narsimha are located in the neighboring region of Lake Mansar.
