Kumily is the largest Gramme Panchayat in the province of Kerala and is located in the Idukki region of Kerala. It is a town in the Cardamom Hills near Thekkady and the Periyar Tiger Reserve. Kumily is known as the Gateway State Border to Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The area was once claimed by the Thekkumkoor rajas in focal Travancore and later when Marthanda Varma fought his battles in focal Travancore, places like Kumily fell under the Travancore kingdom.
But the extraordinary and remarkable changes in the region happened due to the approach of the British forces. They got these districts from the neighbouring rulers and converted the forest areas into cultivable land. Kumily is an exceptional destination for the majority of holidaymakers because of its cool, invigorating atmosphere. The nearby town of Theni in Tamil Nadu offers travellers the opportunity to visit Grape, Suruli Theertham, Megamalai, Kumabakarai, Vaigai Dam and much more. Kattappana is the nearby region.
