Kottayam, Kerala

Famous as the land of three Ls – letters, lakes, and latex – Kottayam is one of the most beautiful places in Kerala. Bordered by the Western Ghats to the east and the Vembanad Lake and green paddy fields to the west, Kottayam is set in a breathtaking landscape.

Kottayam was also known as Akshara Nagari or the Land of Letters. It was one of the most important centers of literature in ancient India.

Kottayam enjoys a pleasant climate throughout the year. The local cuisine of Kerala here has had a Syrian-Christian influence and is equally interesting. Dance and art thrive in the city, giving us glimpses of ancient India and its rich culture.
