The Jantar Mantar is located on Parliament Street, south of Connaught Circle in New Delhi. It is a huge observatory built to support and enhance the study of space and time. It was built by Maharaja Jai Singh in 1724 and is part of a collection of five observatories in Jaipur, Ujjain, Varanasi, and Mathura.
The Jantar Mantar in Delhi consists of 13 architectural astronomical instruments that can be used to create astronomical tables and predict the movements and times of the sun, moon, and planets. The intelligent design and placement of these instruments enabled the observer to detect the position of the celestial bodies with the naked eye alone.
