Amidst the lush green backdrop of the Shivalik Mountains, the highest point of Shimla, lies the Jakhu Temple, an ancient site dedicated to the Hindu god Hanuman. The Jakhu Temple houses the largest statue of Hanuman in the world, which can be seen from most parts of Shimla.
It is located about 2 kilometers from the Ridge in the center of Shimla, a drive of about 30 minutes. According to the legend surrounding the Jakhu Temple, Lord Hanuman stopped at this place to rest before continuing his search for the Sanjeevani Booti to revive Lord Lakshman.
