Located in the heart of Dehradun city, the Guru Ram Rai Gurudwara is the most famous secular center in Dehradun. Built-in the 17th century, the Guru Ram Rai Gurudwara is the oldest and holiest pilgrimage site of the Sikh network in Dehradun. Hence, he requested the present Raja of Garhwal, Fateh Shah, for all possible help for Shri Guru Ram Ji. Initially, a Gurudwara was built in Dhamawala. The construction of the present building of Darbar Sahib was completed in 1707. The large tab at the front measuring 230 x 80 feet, which had dried up over the years due to lack of water and where people dumped their rubbish, has now been renovated and revived. Every year, a fair is held on the 5th day after Holi, the festival of colors.
