Cheranalloor, Kerala

Cheranallur or Cheranellore or Cheranelloor is a suburb of the city of Kochi in the Indian state of Kerala and is located on the banks of the river Periyar. As custom would have it, the area was named after its earlier inhabitants who found the place exceptionally fertile and wonderful. The name means “Great Village of Cheras” in its neighborhood dialect of Malayalam. National Highway 66, which connects Cochin with Mumbai-Panvel, intersects Cheranalloor with Vallarpadam International Container National Highway 47C India, the main junction between the two highways.
