Beypore or Beypur is an ancient port city and a district town in the Kozhikode region of Kerala province, India. The place was formerly known as Vaypura/Vadaparappanad. Tipu Sultan, the ruler of Mysore, named the town “Sultan Pattanam”. There is a marina and a coastline. The port of Beypore is one of the most experienced ports in Kerala, generally interchanged with the Middle East. Beypore is known for the construction of wooden boats, called dhows or urus in the Malayalam dialect.
