Attingal is a municipality and the metropolitan area of Thiruvananthapuram in the Thiruvananthapuram district in the state of Kerala, India. It is the base camp of the Chirayinkeezhu taluk and the main government organizations of the taluk such as the taluk office, court complex, deputy superintendent of police’s office, police station, and treasuries are located in Attingal. It is one of the oldest regions of Kerala, predating liberation in 1922.
In 1914, the Attingal Town Improvement Authority (TIA) was formed before the liberation of the region in 1922. The town is located 25 kilometers ( 16 miles) north of Thiruvananthapuram. Attingal is one of the most important centers of the Thiruvananthapuram region.
