Varapuzha is a northern suburb of Kochi city. It is a census town in Paravur Taluk, Ernakulam district in the Indian state of Kerala. Its strength lies in the fact that the western piece of Varapuzha, called Devaswompadam, is surrounded by an extensive rice-growing area, especially with Pokkali rice cultivation and fish cultivation, privately called ‘Kettu’. The main occupations of the locals are fishing and horticulture.
