Himachal Pradesh Breaks Records in June with Severe Cold

In Himachal Pradesh, there is cold weather in the month of June. Even in the mountains of Himachal, there is cold weather resembling winter in June. It has been recorded that several districts in the state have a minimum temperature of 13.2 degrees Celsius, and in Shimla, it has reached a record low of 9.6 degrees Celsius. After 24 years, Shimla, the capital, is experiencing cold nights similar to January.

On Wednesday night, the minimum temperature in Shimla recorded a record low of 9.6 degrees Celsius. According to the information, before this, on June 4, 1999, the minimum temperature in the city was 9.4 degrees Celsius. From 2000 to 2022, the temperature ranged from 11 to 14 degrees Celsius. Moreover, the state is experiencing continuous rainfall and snowfall. The cold weather, rain, and hailstorms are causing difficulties for people every day.

Farmers’ crops are being destroyed. Due to the rain, 34 roads, including 2 national highways (NH), and more than a dozen power transformers are non-functional in the state. According to the weather department, there is no relief from rain today and tomorrow as well. A yellow alert has been issued in some areas regarding rainfall. Currently, the weather is expected to remain the same for the next four to five days.
